God...sorry for the freakishly long wait...there were some...umm...drawbacks. Namely, I wound up painting in the wings...only to find out when I started the fire that I completely forgot to separate them into multiple different layers (note: the fire covers only certain parts of the wings and the figures...so it was like: "oh @#$%").
Wound up having to repaint the entire wingspan...which, I have to say...is a HUGE PAIN IN THE ARSE!!!
However...damn, it came out pretty darn nifty so I guess it was worth [tons of] the extra work.
So, concept...the character's name was "Summer Heat" but I wanted to REALLY exaggerate the "HEAT" part.
I wanted fire...like, not just fire...but FIRE!!!!!! Like, burn your ass to the ground fire...and it had to RADIATE. Like, you know those small little glows...? Well, we're not talking about that. We're talking about "OH @#$% INFERNO! MY ASS IS ON FIRE!" kinda level. (...yeah, I know, that made no sense whatsoever...)
I also took ALOT of liberty in altering the wing design. The original design had very similar wings to another piece I drew for a Lucius [link] a while back so I wanted this one to stand out on its own as well so they were heavily tweaked...okay, okay...saying "tweak" is a vast understatement. Hahaha.
...but anyways, I'll leave the image to speak for itself.
See what happens when people commission me to draw these armored characters. I go totally NUTS...like, ADHD crazy on it. (BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! Psycho armor-obsessed artist on the loose!)
